Feeling HOT HOT HOT!!!

// June 29th, 2010 // No Comments » // Live @ Gjs, Open Mic, Papa J News

To All I Bid You MASSIVE Hello!!

Sun is Shinning, weather is HOT, BLOODY HOT.

Thank God!!! HAHA at the risks of sounding like perv.s we here at Papa J’s love it (as should all our fellow men of the earth). The skirts get shorter and the tops get lower mostly on the women but you still see the one guy in his sarong ~( it’s a metro man thing)~ . It’s the kinda time where you can be happy that your pockets are filled only with flint and the odd used condom.

To celebrate another occasion, Keiron has got himself a part time job. It’s down at Sutton Music working with Sam Brooks, once again as the A-team of the music shop world. Next time you see him wish him well and try and get a disscount.

The open mics have been rolling well and only had a small low during the world cup but now England lost to Germany *sob…sob…boo-hoo* ~(predictable or what)~ we are back on track with last night being a MENTAL all out rock off with 3 new acts, the traditional family and some rarer faces with, as they always will be, welcome to put there names firmly into any of the Papa J stages or events.

So Kiddies What have you all been up to?????

don’t forget all the ways you can contact us we always love to hear from you weather you are an artist, band, legend or just want a civil chat…..but if you drink Starbucks and follow suit WE DON’T WANT TO KNOW YOU!!!  ~(some bad people have emerged after drinking starbucks…did you know if alive today Hitler would be drinking his grande french roast coffee with a muffin doing his 5th Sudoku of the day…….twat…….), although if you are an occasional starbucks attendee I’m sure we can live with it :-)

but if you do want to get in touch find us on twitter, facebook, myspace and obviously the pages you have been or are just about to explore.

Chat to you all soon,

Dave and Keiron xXx

// April 26th, 2010 // No Comments » // Live @ Gjs, Open Mic, Papa J News, Variety Show

Yippie Ki Yay! our 2nd Variety show of the year went down really well our 3 bands were amazing.

KCT ended up playing with a full band instead of just the normal two members (aparently the other two had only been in the band for 3 hours) and they pulled it off with out any hiccups giving them a fuller more original sound.

The High Chaparrals had the crowd going mental as they lit up the room with not only the power of there performance but the Christmas lights surrounding the double bass .

New band 335 ended the night with some funky diverse blues proving that they had what it takes to headline and finish off the night.

We could tell this was a night that would grab more people to come to our next show on the 15th of May for the line up visit:

Continuing with the live music Monday’s open mic night is tonight. Last weeks was excellent. Everyone who turned up enjoyed themselves starting chants of “sex gnome” and other bits of …. supportive banter :-)

The Sun kept out a fair few of our usual crowd but it was also able to bring in some old comers to the warming lights of the Papa J’s GJ’s Experience. who knows what tonight’s will bring us…..

During the past week we have not only been working on all the Papa J bits and bobs but cutting down a tree! Apparently it falls in to a small bit of no man’s land so the council won’t touch it.

So cutting down this 45ft tree has been a bit of an experience although it’s too week to take mine or Keiron’s weight due to it rotting so we have been sending Keir’s 63 year old Grandad up there instead as he is the smallest and the lightest. There have been several close calls; nearly smashing a car and Grandad nearly flying out of the tree are only a few to name. We only have the trunk left to do now, we have stayed alive this long lets hope we will last a bit longer.

Will update you on how it’s going soon,

Hope to see you tonight at the Open Mic,

Dave

What a Monday!!

// February 2nd, 2010 // No Comments » // Open Mic, Papa J News

Well Lady’s, Gents and Geezerbirds,

I have not had a Monday like it for a while.

The Day started with me working from home and looking after my two little brothers. It was not a pretty sight the night before; it was like the Exorcist film; PROJECTILE VOMITING EVERYWHERE!!!  By the end of the day they had piped up a little bit. I think from all the lemonade I gave them earlier in the day. So off to Keiron’s to load up our trusty stead BULLY (alright not a stead but more horse power and can take on a tank) CUE THE A-TEAM MUSIC.

DUR DUR DUR,     DUR DUR DUR ,………..ect.

Sherman dons the Mohawk and off we speed, CRAZY FOOL!

After a speedy setup and a quick sound check from myself and Keiron, the madness began. There was lots of fantastic acts which included the return of   Dave Bourne,  Sherman Marshall and an interesting one. We had Ellie Daniel return after a while away but this time not alone. Ellie had returned with a band and the are known as  The Marakara Giant. The pub was in awe at the music not only from them but all of last nights acts. Twisted Harmony gave everyone a laugh when they got everybody doing , what it seemed to be, the starting clapping beat of we will rock you from Queen; which got the crowd moving and clapping. the song turned out to be cloud chaser :-) which is my favourite song of theirs but not queen :-(

So guys are the January blues over? as we had a amazing night filled with great fun. What do you think?

Well today is now Tuesday and it’s back to the hard graft and office life. Well nearly office life. Today we are planning on the future of the company and organising where everything will lay in the new office with our custom desks.

We are also still trying to sort our e-mails out with our provider so untill thurther notice; the best way to contact us is through our normal yahoo e-mails which are:

Davetclifford@yahoo.co.uk (me)

keironmarshall@yahoo.com (Keiron)

Well that’s it for today and will hope to speak to you all soon in person or through e-mail

bye bye   :-)   x

Didgeridoo on the radio

// January 28th, 2010 // No Comments » // Open Mic, Papa J News, The Shed Shaker

Hello everyone in internet land,

This week myself and K-man have been working away on our laptops and bits of paper as we come to the final things we need before Papa J’s expands in March.

Keiron also stated in his last post that Last weekend was a messy one….YES IT WAS!

mine was pretty much the same as his but mine started on the Friday. I ended up discovering that I can do the dance move called the worm after my 15 year old sister had a room of ten mid twenty year olds trying it for over an hour before we stopped and showed her how to dive, skid, slide and dive again down the stairs (I still have the carpet burns now).

Last nights radio show was held at keirons house as this is where we had all the equipment from a little gig earlier in the week. whilst at the house we thought it would be fun to invite a guest on to the show so who other then Sam Brooks. That’s right we had a live season from Twisted Harmony whose album will be out later this year.

I think it was just a way of Keiron having a vanity show :-D

The three of us had alot of fun gathering around one mic and adding the random bit of didgeridoo to the night.

Tonight I’m off to be a bit up market and go up to that old London town and watch Cirque du Soleil and be dazzled by all of it. I will fill you in on it later.

Tomorrow night shall be one of the greatest nights i have had in a very long time. That’s right guys Adie Sweet is back on the open mic scene and if you want to come and watch come meet us in the Colliers Tup in Colliers Wood at around 8.00-9.00pm

If any of you get the chance I thought I would let you know Sherman comes back today so send him your love over facebook or text messages. WELCOME HOME SHERM :-)

Well I’m off now to London but shall catch you all soon my lady’s, gent’s and geezer-bird’s,

Dave x
