Gigs Galore…
// February 17th, 2010 // Papa J News
What a hectic week. I’m feeling absolutely cream crackered!
As Dave mentioned, last week we were gutting the office and building new desks and storage solutions for when we get the CD Duplication and Printing equipment. (I’d also like to add that they were designed and hand made by us….so probably fall down in a week!!)
On Friday I managed to do 2 gigs in 1 night which was great fun. Although I don’t enjoy rushing around that much. However for Mr Tim Buckley and Dave Bourne how could I not?
I heard from Dave that the open mic on Monday was awesome. Had a great turn out and great standard of acts. I that night was at The Bedford (Balham) playing a gig with Hannah White. It was my first time playing there and it was really cool. Great sound, quirky venue and full of people of really appreciate live (unsigned) music. Hannah did a cracking set and I really enjoyed it. Her brother was rather amusing who managed to smash this calm acoustic evening up….Ok he just broke a wine glass. However imagine this; nice calm acoustic love song being played, audience is dead silent. There then is a rolling noise and……SMASH!!! This was hysterical!!
Last night I played at the Cobden Club with Andy Bolan (and John the Hat). It’s a private members only club which was interesting; however it was a lovely venue. Absolutely massive, beautiful Victorian building. The sound off stage was amazing, really great sound system. On stage was quite difficult to hear at times. The headlining act was a band called The Hempolics. They had a great sound and really good upbeat tunes. It was just a shame the guy on keys was a complete wanker! The most pretentious, up his own arse, big egoed C*!t!!!! The rest of the band were really cool guys, however this guy was some what rude towards other ‘musos’ and he was a complete twat towards the sound engineer. (At one point swearing at the engineer on stage for everyone to see)
Ignoring that I had a great time, and thoroughly enjoyed all the laughs and arguments about hand pressed cymbals and all that jazz.
We’ve ordered most of all the new equipment so Papa J’s will definitely be expanding into CD Duplication and also small batch printing. We are doing a big launch show on Saturday 20th March. (Get there and support us!!)
Well got to go and prepare some Dave abuse for the radio show tonight!!
